Satoru “Rick” Oyama came to IHS after an extended period as general manager of Fujitsu Semiconductor Limited, where he was responsible for market research and alliance strategic planning. He also helped to spin out the semiconductor operation from the Fujitsu parent company.
At IHS, Satoru, as principal analyst for Japanese research, he is responsible for analysis related to rechargeable batteries and semiconductor-related industries.
Prior to joining Fujitsu, Satoru worked as a senior analyst for equity research at ABN AMRO and for Lehman Brothers. There, he covered the semiconductor industry from companies such as Hitachi, Toshiba, Mitsubishi Electric, NEC, Fujitsu, Nikon, Advantest, Tokyo Electron, Sony, Panasonic, Sharp, Sanyo and more.
In the years 1999 and 2000, Satoru was ranked as the No. 4 industrial analyst ranking according to the Nikkei survey.
Satoru has also spent significant time at Gartner/Dataquest and Tokyo Electron Limited.
Satoru has a Masters degree in Software Engineering from Keio University.
