Plasma Prices Rise, LCD Prices Fall Across the Board

July 2012 saw the average retail price of a LCD TV in the U.S. continue to fall, as competition intensifies and the Olympic Games in London approached. Pricing drops were observed across almost all LCD screen sizes, with 32-inch TVs now available for an average price of just $387, lower than ever observed over the past 3 years. However, Plasma TVs continue to increase in price, with a decline in availability to just 13.3% sparking a more exclusive pricing strategy. Availability of 32-inch models continues to decline, with 46-inch TVs less than 0.5% away from becoming the dominant screen size, whilst over 40% of all TVs available at retail were Smart TVs, and 24% were 3-D TVs...
