Much to the dismay of cable and satellite TV content providers and to the benefit of broadband suppliers, Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) has arrived. In fact, the IPTV market is set to reach 311.5 million subscribers worldwide by the end of 2008. The question is no longer can telephone companies compete in the pay-for-TV market, but rather how much market share can these companies obtain and by when. Currently, IPTV occupies about 2% of the market, but by 2011 this could be as much as 15%, presenting many opportunities for original equipment manufacturer (OEMs), original design manufacturers (ODMs) and silicon suppliers. This research documents these opportunities as well as provides a database for revenue, market share, unit shipments and ASPs by region, provider and service.
