Crystals and oscillators are used as the heartbeats for any electronic
system-driving items as simple as a real-time clock in a PC, to more critical
items such as the main timing reference in a cellular handset. Crystal devices
are ever evolving, whether in terms of packaging for crystals or higher
frequencies and lower noise characteristics for oscillators. An increasing
number of suppliers are offering crystal devices today, and yet supply and
demand issues continue to arise.
