iSuppli Launches New Web Site with Enhanced Capabilities and Usability
December 10, 2008
iSuppli Corp. last month launched its retooled Web site, which showcases the company’s products and services in powerful new ways through a mix of advanced search capabilities, flexible content management, broad cross-functional linkages, and news aggregators for tagging.

Sporting a bold redesign and freshly enhanced functionality, the new iSuppli site offers substantially improved search capabilities with two search modes possible. Searches can be conducted using the conventional search bar on the upper-right-hand section of the Web site. Users also can search by clicking on the “News” tab, which yields a redefined taxonomy of categories on the left-hand side of the Web site for looking up news and related articles by topic.

The new site’s advanced search capability is critically important in light of iSuppli’s broad product portfolio, and content-management capabilities were needed to cope with the requirements of a fluid, responsive Web site.

The new site also allows quicker updates of information presented—making content on the site more current.

An important feature of the new site is cross functionality, which establishes intelligent relationships between disparate products and services on the site and allows customers to find linked items of interest. For example, someone interested in iSuppli’s Teardown Service could be drawn as well by its offerings in the areas of forecast tools, semiconductors or telematics. With just a click, clients can find a host of research items related to their original inquiry, including analyst information, events, news and press releases.

The site is also more customer friendly, because users do not need to know how the site is structured in order to find what they need. iSuppli clients, for example, may not know that mobile handsets are grouped under the company’s semiconductor service. However, a quick search will provide the desired information.

“The orchestration of services is more customer oriented,” said John Ward, vice president, marketing, at iSuppli. “Customers see the things they want right away, and mix and match to get what they need.”

What’s next?
Ward and Graham Lammers, director of iSuppli’s business intelligence division that oversaw implementation of the re-launch effort, foresee extensions being added to the site in the future. These extensions include blogs to be hosted by analysts, “wiki” functionality for gathering information into a comprehensive storehouse of knowledge and a small portal site that provides workgroup organization.

The site also features news aggregators, another recently implemented feature. At the bottom of news pages are aggregators for subscribing to RSS feeds, bookmarking items of interest in Del.icio.us, Newsvine and Mixx, and sharing content with others through social networking sites like Digg, Yahoo and Facebook. “The extensions,” Ward said, “will expand functionality of the iSuppli Web site even more and enhance the company’s presence in the blogosphere.”
